Serbia Protesters Urge Eurovision Boycott Over Israel Participation

(MENAFN) A group of demonstrators gathered in Serbia’s capital, Belgrade, calling for the country to boycott the Eurovision Song Contest due to Israel’s participation in the competition, according to reports.

The protest took place outside the headquarters of Serbia’s public broadcaster, Radio Television of Serbia (RTS). As stated by reports, participants argued that Serbia’s involvement in Eurovision would amount to indirect support for Israel’s actions against Palestinians.

The demonstrators urged Serbian authorities to withdraw from the contest and called on RTS to cancel the country’s participation entirely. During the rally, protesters were seen waving Palestinian flags.

In a written statement, the organizers said Serbia should instead dedicate its broadcasting space to programming focused on Palestine rather than taking part in the competition.

Reports also indicate that several countries—including Slovenia, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Iceland—have already announced their withdrawal from the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest following Israel’s inclusion.
